The mission of the Industrial Process Control Group is to offer both consulting and engineering study services as well as design solutions to a variety of industries that operate plants and facilities. Most plants often involve processes that need to be automatically monitored and controlled. Industries that own or operate such plants are main target market for MERDCI’s Industrial Process Control Group.
Examples include petroleum and gas industries that are involved in: a) oil and gas reservoir identification; b) well drilling; c) well maintenance and control; d) operation of petroleum and gas processing plants; and e) operation and maintenance of an extensive network of pipelines that need to be monitored against defects such as thinning by corrosion, leaks, etc.
The strategic intent of the Industrial Process Control Group is, therefore, to develop the core expertise in a few key strategic technologies – both in the upstream as well as downstream. Some of these key strategic technologies are:
• Various methods of reservoir identification and modeling.
• Measurement methods and data collection and reporting schemes involved in well drilling operations.
• Well control, maintenance and repairing.
• Use of advanced signal processing and communication technologies for intelligent, remote monitoring and reporting of defects in pipelines.
The main target customers for the above technologies are petroleum and gas industries. Other focus area for the Industrial Process Control Group involves control of industrial processes in petrochemical and plastic manufacturing plants and development of electronic subsystems or systems to meet the needs of customers.
