The mission of MERDCI’s System Solutions Group is to identify multi-disciplinary areas of activity at MERDCI that require expertise from more than one R&D and/or application Groups and to provide coordination among the Groups involved.
Most application activities involve more than just one set of skills that exist in specific R&D and/or application Groups. As an example, a gas leak detection system requires expertise from, at least the following Groups:
• Analog and Mixed-Signal Group (for addressing the need for appropriate pressure and/or temperature sensors).
• b) VLSI Group (for DSP algorithms).
• c) Industrial Process Control Group (for addressing industry-related issues and concerns).
• d) IT/ICT Group (for application and user interface development).
In such an involved application, the System Solutions Group tries to develop a system view of the project in order to define the most-optimum system solution, working with all R&D and application Groups involved. In addition, the System Solutions Group has the task of providing coordination among the various activities taking place in involved R&D and application Groups, using the system view of the projects that has developed as its guiding principle. |
