The mission of MERDCI’s Nanoelectronics Group is to develop nanoelectronic devices and systems. As the feature size of electronic devices shrink down to 10 nanometers and below, novel properties are exhibited most of which involve quantum effects. The Group is currently focused on electronic properties of material at the nanoscale regime.
The Group’s application areas include:

• Single-electron storage devices.
• Spin transport devices.
• Quantum computation.
• Bio-chips.

In collaboration with several international research centers, the Group investigates properties of nanoscale electronic devices and system in order to develop appropriate solutions to meet the requirement of future markets.

To achieve the above goals, the Group has identified a number of key areas for its initial focus. These include:
• Establishment of a world-class nanoelectronics research laboratory.
• Definition of joint R&D projects with major research centers.
• Establishment and promotion of Iranian Nanoelectronics Association.
• Human resource development through funding of doctoral programs.
