The mission of MERDCI’s Analog and Mixed-Signal Group is to design and implement high performance integrated circuits for new applications. The Group is currently focused on telecommunication systems as its primary area of research and development. The Analog and Mixed-Signal Group works in close cooperation with the VLSI Group as well as the relevant application group to provide the most optimum solution for the target application.
The Analog and Mixed-Signal Group’s application areas include:
• High-speed ICs for wired telecommunication systems, including
o High-bandwidth amplifiers.
o High-performance data retiming circuits.
o Clock generators and frequency synthesizers.
• Low-power, low-cost wireless transceivers.
• High-performance, low-power analog and mixed-mode embeddable IP blocks, including.
o Continuous-time filters with high dynamic range.
o High-speed, low-power data converters.
o Reference circuits
In these areas, the Analog and Mixed-Signal Group’s emphasis is to find the most optimum solutions based on structured design methodologies. A top-down design methodology is followed in which trade-offs between design parameters, performance requirements and system requirements are evaluated before the design process starts. The Analog and Mixed-Signal Group also works on novel circuits and system architectures to achieve the highest possible level of integration while enhancing the overall system performance.
